Epic mesh |

Experiential immersive sculpture work | 10th December 2019

Rumours stand for the loud message, however, I through such a calming and epic form to create contradictions.

This is just the cut-scenes/trailer for the project, the project actually runs for two hours, until the sand finishes trickling. The video has the music 51°03.773' by Clem leek plays in the background, the music slowly depicts the feeling of sadness as hearing rumours, and the glitchy sound really brings the piece together.

“YOU CAN HEAR RUMORS. BUT YOU CAN'T KNOW THEM.” JAY ASHER (2016)

Using sand and mesh to express multiple meanings. Firstly, sand is considered as rumours, mesh is people who spread rumours. Furthermore, I added extra elements like coffee scrubs, oats and stones in with the sand as a video playing in the background through the holes, which gives a feeling of the message gets contaminated as it gets widely spread, while the film indicates media. On the other hand, the structure of mesh was made to be intricate and spontaneous as the revelation of the complex nature in human, which the holes are also suggesting humanity is unsubstantial.
